As we enter fall, the craft has been busy with many activities. We completed the Entered Apprentice Degree on four candidates in October and the officers did a great job in presenting the degree to the candidates. Unfortunately, three candidates did not attend. One has family/work issues and requested to be delayed until a future time. The other two were unable to be contacted. When acting as a first line signer it is your responsibility to submit candidates who are reliable and will be a benefit to the craft. We invest time and effort to interview candidates and ballot on them The Lodge does invite candidates to public functions whenever possible but the first line signer needs to keep in contact with them during this time.
Several of the Brothers and I attended an informal gathering at Ezekiel Bates Lodge in Attleboro, MA along with members of the Ancient York Lodge of Nashua, NH. The discussion was on Ezekiel Bates visit to our lodge in December and possible future masonic visitations and activities amongst the three lodges.
The Gaspee Chapter of DeMolay will be holding its installation of new officers at Scottish Rite at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 12. Suit and tie are the attire of the day. If you can attend and support our chapter the boys will appreciate it. The officers will be attending the semi-annual communication of Grand Lodge on Saturday, November 19. If any Brothers wish to attend the Fall Festival please contact the Lodge Secretary, Lou Sherman.
At our Regular Communication we will be hosting our Grand Master’s Visitation to the District. Lodge will open at 5:30 PM. We have secured through R∴W∴ Richard Lynch, Michael A. Halleran, who is a Past Grand Master for the State of Kansas. M∴W∴ Bro. Halloran will be speaking on “Freemasonry in the American Civil War”. He will be available after his lecture for further discussion and will have copies of his book for purchase and signing. Also his new book,” Macoy’s Modern Worshipful Master’s Assistant” will be available. Also please keep aside Friday, December 9th as that is the evening of the St. John’s #1 Providence Annual Holiday Party. More information to follow.
I look forward to seeing you in Lodge not just now but throughout the year.
