Masters Message February 2020

Greetings my Brothers,

The month of January started with the Polar Plunge, which raised about $15,000 for the Rhode Island Special Olympics. The officers also attended the installation of officers at Jenks Lodge. Congratulations to the new Master, W∴Brother Anthony Amaral and his line officers. We learned during the installation that St. Andrews Lodge is merging with Jenks Lodge. Congratulations and good luck to all.

We examined our three candidates on the EA degree and they were exceptional in their proficiency, followed by the conferring of the Fellowcraft degree.I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate brother Sr. Deacon, John Paliotta, for an outstanding and exemplary presentation of the Middle Chamber Lecture.

The speaker for February, Dr. Jack Mustard, will be speaking about "The Next Challenge in NASA's exploration of Mars: The Mars 2020 mission, what is it and what will be learn!" In July of 2020, just 6 months from now, a rover the size of a Mini Cooper car will be launched to the Red Planet to explore an exciting new site and gather samples to be returned to Earth at a future date. The big goals is to seek signs of life in the samples when we get them back to Earth. Dr. Mustard will give an overview of the newest science discoveries on Mars and outline some of the biggest unsolved mysteries that exploration seeks to reveal.

The Wilkens Scholarship applications for 2020 are available. The scholarship is open to the children and grandchildren of St Johns Lodge 1P members in good standing, as well as members of Rainbow and DeMolay. If you need an application, please see brother Edward Bertrand at the February communication or drop an email to brother Secretary.

I look forward to seeing you all in Lodge. May the blessings of heaven rest upon us, our families and all the brethren in our great fraternity.

Fraternally,

Mazen M. Alsabe
Worshipful Master
